So it has been over 6 weeks since I officially called my life in the Financial Industry a career. I believed retirement was going to be a smooth transition to doing things that I had been looking forward too. Boy did I get it wrong. In my defense, it wasn’t really, my fault, the corona virus got in the way. So while my “official” retirement date was March 31, I have actually been off since March 12.
As we move through this unprecedented time in our history, I have tried to stay informed about the issues of the day. This situation is only going to improve, if all of us become educated on the facts of this virus. We need to learn what is fact and what is myth.
I have never considered myself a social media expert. I have a facebook page, twitter account and an instagram account, but I am more of a follower and reader of other people’s posts rather than express or post my opinions. What I find fascinating is number of myths and stories about this virus are out there.
Let’s start with the U.S. administration calling COVID-19 is a hoax. Remember that? Here we are 2 month later and there are almost 78,000 dead, in the US. Some hoax. No worse that flu, right? People do die from the flu, but not in these kind of numbers and not in such a short time period. We have been luckier in Canada, but we have lost almost 5000 people. This is no HOAX!
How about story that the 5G cell towers are spreading the virus or make people more susceptible to getting sick. Where does this come from? Where does this info come from? Where is the science, that backs this up? There is none! Its the conspiracy theorists, who seem to believe and are pushing that this whole thing is a “DEEP STATE” plot or the CHINESE trying to destroy our way of life.
Anyone who believe this kind of “CRAP” is a moron. These are the same people who don’t think they need to wear masks, or think social distancing is not required. They are the ones who believe that their rights are being infringed upon. Talk about being selfish, and stupid.
Most of what we hear about this comes, from the US, but we have these idiots in Canada, too. We have had cell towers on fire and what makes it even dumber in here, is that Canada doesn’t have any 5G towers. Proving that STUPIDITY, like the virus, isn’t stopped by borders.
Yes times are tough and I miss going out Friday nights to our regular “dinner and movie” date. I want to go to Home Depot and get the tools I want for all the “retirement” projects. I want to go to Costco and MOST IMPORTANTLY I want to see and hug my grandchildren.
The only way we are going to get through this ALIVE, is to listen to the scientists and doctors NOT POLITICIANS. Follow the rules, support the front line workers and get EDUCATED.
